This is the long awaited entry that we have been promising everyone that we will do! We went to visit Buckingham Palace but the Queen wasn't at home, but we took some nice pictures of the changing of the guard. After that we went to the Tower of London. We got a guided tour by a beefeater. (Beefeaters are the special guards of the tower who have been there for centuries and guard the Crown Jewels.) It was very cool. They told us interesting stories about how people used to be hung, how they got their name, and the story of King Henry's wives and how they lost their heads.
The crown jewels were very nice, and Paul and Kellie saw a very nice chip'n'dip platter for all those get togethers. It was huge and made of platinum and gold. Nice and gaudy. My favourites were some of the elaborate crowns covered in jewels and precious stones and how all the different kings and queens had them customised. Queen Elizabeth II'nds was very simple and elegant.
We also like the armour, especially for the young royal princes. Child sized armours and the children used to practice the art of warfare in them.
Also at the end we saw the London Bridge go up to let a ship through and go back down again.
Kris, we haven't disappeared of the face of the earth :)
Paul Says:
I put together some photos so enjoy. Sorry that we took so long to write an update, it has been about a month and a week since we went here. Now that we have a tiny bit of spare time on our hands, we will try to put some more up every couple of days until we catch up. There is a lot of photos so... keep your eyes peeled :)
Also, just so you know, I wrote the comments in this link when I was still unemployed.
